Constitutional objectives
5. The SCIO Purposes 5.1 The SCIO shall hold the SCIO's Assets for Charitable Purposes exclusively, declaring without prejudice to the foregoing generality that the Charity Trustees (1) shall provide funding and/or other support to individuals, Charities and other organisations or groups who undertake projects, or who otherwise have a need for financial or other support, within any one or more of the following Charitable Purposes, with a particular focus on benefitting those who live or operate in the North of Scotland but also elsewhere in the United Kingdom and elsewhere in the world from time to time, (2) shall carry out projects directly which support any one or more of the following Charitable Purposes, and (3) may otherwise apply the SCIO's Assets for any or all of the following Charitable Purposes, namely:- 5.1.1 The prevention or relief of poverty. 5.1.2 The advancement of education. 5.1.3 The advancement of health. 5.1.4 The saving of lives. 5.1.5 The advancement of citizenship or community development. 5.1.6 The advancement of environmental protection or improvement. 5.1.7 The advancement of public participation in sport. 5.1.8 The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. 5.1.9 The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. and 5.1.10 For the purpose of advancing such similar Charitable Purposes as the Trustees may consider appropriate from time to time to further the objects in this clause 5.1. 5.2 The SCIO has power to do anything which is calculated to further its purposes or is conducive or incidental to doing so all in compliance with the terms of the Act, the Charities (Regulation and Administration) (Scotland) Act 2023 or any statutory re-enactment thereof, insofar as it relates to the operation of a SCIO.
