Constitutional objectives
The organisation's purposes are: (a) to advance the arts, by preserving, promoting and developing stepdance, Scotland's traditional percussive dance, and its associated music and song, including in particular through the development and performance of creative work showcasing or featuring stepdance, (b) to advance heritage, by encouraging-- (i) an understanding of stepdance as part of Scotland's history and traditions, (ii) the exploration of links between stepdance, music, song and Gaelic language, (iii) the exploration of links between stepdance and other dance and music traditions, (c) to advance culture, by promoting an awareness of the cultural context for stepdance and understanding of its history and relationship to other traditions, (d) to advance education through the provision of workshops, classes and other events for people to participate in stepdance and its associated music and song and to develop their practice of stepdance.
