Lauder Common Riding SCIO

Constitutional objectives

The SCIO’s purposes are: a) To promote, preserve and uphold the traditions and heritage of Lauder Common Riding, including those associated with the former Royal and Ancient Burgh of Lauder, including civic, cultural, musical, sporting and equestrian activities, and to sustain their active practice within the community. b) To advance citizenship and community development, including by fostering a strong sense of place, local identity and civic pride within Lauderdale, and by encouraging and supporting community participation in organising, delivering and taking part in Common Riding events. c) To advance arts, culture and heritage relating to the history, customs and ceremonial practices associated with Lauder Common Riding. d) To advance volunteering by providing opportunities for individuals to contribute their time, skills and experience to the planning and delivery of Lauder Common Riding and associated activities. Area of benefit: Lauderdale including, but not limited to Lauder, surrounding villages and the wider Scottish Borders.
