• Mitigation: We conduct enhanced due diligence on our supplier base to identify and manage potential for risk. This includes checks against high risk sanctions, compliance with local regulatory requirements and adverse media checks. We supplement this with supplier declarations and right of review on supplier contracting tools.
• Risk: Mining goods and services pose heightened risk potential due to factors including type of industry, country of origin, the degree of regulation within certain industries and reliance on manual labour.

• Mitigation: We utilise tools such as a 'risk heat map' where we classify suppliers by degree of potential risk, which informs the initial list of suppliers for recommended for further due diligence. That list is supplemented with additional suppliers to provide balance in terms of the categories and geographies covered. Monthly responsible sourcing updates are included in the global supply chain score card, and in the score cards of our technical director and chief executive on a quarterly basis.
