Demonstrated progress

We demonstrate progress through defined KPIs, including supplier compliance, audit coverage, responsible recruitment (zero recruitment fees/document retention), and employee training. In 2025, we strengthened our Human Rights, Supplier Code, and Responsible Recruitment policies. We set annual targets and commit to ongoing improvements, including increased audits, enhanced traceability, and stronger worker grievance mechanisms.

• Risk: Risk of forced labour in seafood processing in Southeast and South Asia, i.e., migrant workers engaged in labour intensive activities such as peeling prawns, filleting fish, and packing seafood.

• Mitigation: All suppliers are expected to adhere to our Supplier Code of Conduct, which explicitly prohibits forced labour, debt bondage, and the charging of recruitment fees to workers. We require key suppliers to undergo independent social audits (e.g. SMETA or equivalent), which assess risks such as forced labour, recruitment practices, working hours, and wage conditions. We review audit findings and follow up on any non-conformances.
• Risk: Risk of labour exploitation in fishing vessel supply chains, i.e., workers on vessels may be exposed to risks including excessive working hours, withholding of wages, poor living conditions.

• Mitigation: To address this risk, we apply risk-based supplier due diligence focused on high-risk species and regions. Suppliers must meet our Code of Conduct, prohibiting forced labour. We prioritise certified sources (e.g. MSC) and are improving traceability to vessel level. We engage suppliers on labour standards and take corrective action where issues arise, while monitoring industry best practices to strengthen our approach.
• Risk: Risk of exploitation of temporary and agency workers in UK operations, i.e., workers vulnerable to exploitation due to language barriers, reliance on third-party labour providers, and insecure work.

• Mitigation: To address this risk, we carry out due diligence on all labour providers, including checks on licensing (e.g. GLAA where applicable). All workers are covered by our policies on fair treatment, pay, and working conditions. We provide onboarding and training, including information on workers’ rights and how to raise concerns. We monitor agency performance and conduct regular reviews, taking corrective action where issues are identified.
