Description

The service aims to ensure Wirral has a supportive service for ante and post-natal women who wish to breastfeed, which provides an appropriate, evidence-based mix of breastfeeding education, promotion and ante-natal programmes. The service will be targeted to address health inequalities by providing additional breastfeeding support to vulnerable women and those living in the most disadvantaged wards where breastfeeding rates are lowest. This will include (but not be limited to) face-to-face/group/peer support (in Family Hubs and Children's Centre's), telephone support, provision of resources/information and advice, plus a strong social media presence to encourage, motivate, and provide personalised support to help improve breastfeeding rates; this will positively impact the health and wellbeing of mothers and babies locally.
