Component scores are FHRS intervention scores: lower is better. They are not the same scale as the overall 0–5 rating and may be absent after a rescore.
This rating describes hygiene standards found on the inspection date, not food quality. Ratings can change after later local-authority inspections. Verify the current official record before relying on it.

Statement supplied with the official record

"The Funky Monk has historically maintained a 5-star food hygiene rating. During the unannounced inspection on 28 July 2026, the business owner was absent due to severe illness. While our physical kitchen standards were judged to be highly compliant ('Good' food handling and 'Very Good' cleanliness), our onsite team failed to successfully present our Food Safety Management documentation to the officer. We have since completely re-trained our staff, reinforced our daily log compliance, and applied for an urgent paid re-visit to restore our 5-star rating as quickly as possible." Owner, Funky Monk Essex Ltd
