- On 21st June 2023, whilst servicing tank gauges at the Tetra Technologies U.K. Limited tank farm within the ASCO offshore supply base, Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, an operative was seriously injured at around 11am when a bolted low alloy steel storage tank (known as Tank 7) failed catastrophically. The resultant, escaping wave of solution caused the operative to be swept away to their severe injury. Surrounding storage tanks, vehicles and other materials located in the area also incurred damage. At the time of the incident, Tank 7 was filled with around 480,776 litres of calcium chloride solution (an oil drilling chemical), equal to the weight of some 700 tonnes.
