Official reasons
- Yankuba Badjie was the Deputy Director General and then Director General of the Gambia’s National Intelligence Agency (NIA) from 2013 to early 2017. In this capacity, he had responsibility for, and direct oversight of, operations that were carried out by The Gambia’s NIA. During Badjie’s tenure, the NIA were responsible for extra judicial killings, torture and other cruel inhuman and degrading treatment.
