Official reasons
- Former permanent member of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. Former Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation. As a member of the Security Council, which provides advice on and coordinates national security affairs, he was involved in shaping the policy of the Russian Government threatening the territorial intergity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. As of 4 January 2017, Director of the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies. He is also Chairperson of the Board of Directors of 'Almaz-Antey' (also sanctioned). Remains active in supporting separatist actions and policies. The trust services sanctions were imposed on 21/03/2023.
