Official reasons
- Former First deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the State Duma. On 20 March 2014 he voted in favour of the draft Federal Constitutional Law ‘on the acceptance into the Russian Federation of the Republic of Crimea and the formation within the Russian Federation of new federal subjects - the republic of Crimea and the City of Federal Status Sevastopol’. Kalashnikov is one of the Russian lawmakers from the Communist Party (KPRF) who, in January 2022, submitted to the State Duma for consideration a draft resolution that proposes sending a formal appeal to President Vladimir Putin 'on the need to recognize the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Luhansk People’s Republic.' The resolution, if adopted, would undermine the territorial integrity of Ukraine. Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots. The trust services sanctions were imposed on 21/03/2023.
